The PGA Show is where what’s new hits the industry before it hits the course or club - and word travels fast. That’s why professionals that are serious about golf and club management pay close attention to what happens here.

Scanning the list of attendees, 2019 won’t disappoint. We’ll leave the hype about technology advancements for golf clubs and balls to other venues or another time.  Here are some new trends and sessions we think will be of particular interest to Club Managers.

Pumped Up Golf Events

Events can be a great way to generate excitement around your club and increase revenue. The trick is to find the ones that fit your members, staff, and club. There will be several interesting sessions focusing on different and creative tournament formats, as well as how to attract and manage a major golf event.

Reaching a New Audience

It’s no secret that how people receive messages has changed. That’s why we think that the sessions involving digital marketing on some of the most common platforms, including Google and Facebook, will be a hit. If you want to reach new audiences, you have to go where they are. The good news is that you know the messages, the cost of entry is low, and it’s easier to use than you’ve imagined!

Fashion Forward Performance

Clothes and apparel are always a big focus at the show. Look for a variety of new and unique materials to make comfort and fashion, lifestyle and performance, compatible on and off the course. Especially look for brands to extend their offerings for customers in non-sport related functions. For example, look for distinctive golf-bags made with unique materials accompanied by matching backpacks or handbags.

Growing Health and Fitness

Sports specific strength training and conditioning is on the radar of any serious athlete. Look for a variety of equipment, tools, and technology designed specifically to help golfers improve their game and track their progress. From a club engagement perspective, these offerings could be a bonanza.

More Entertaining Simulators

The technology, graphics, and entertainment value associated with golf simulators will continue to improve and isn’t going away anytime soon. These can be great off-season revenue generators, as well as a fun way to draw new golfers to the sport in a less formal environment. Think indoor lessons or possibly even an event ... (see point 1).

Mobile Keeps Going

It shouldn’t be a surprise that the mobile devices we all use to be efficient will be a highlight of the show. That includes Clubessential. For example, our new Mobile Tee Times Tablet Check In will transform tee time check ins. Instead of members rushing and crowding into the Pro Shop right before their tee time, the mobile POS solution enables you to utilize more convenient areas to check in and pay, like the bag drop, 1st tee, or wherever you choose. You can see a sneak peak first hand at booth 3728.

See Into the Future

New this year will be a “Shark Tank” style innovation competition. Hosted by HYPE Sports Innovation, 10 startups will pitch their new golf products to a panel of judges. Who knows, maybe you’ll see the winner - or all of them - back at the show in 2020 or on the course even sooner!
