Client Spotlight: Tahoe Mountain Club
In 2012, longtime Clubessential client, Tahoe Mountain Club, turned to us to build a new online communications platform for their Club to more accurately reflect the character of TMC. We did not let them down. Read on >

Clubessential has partnered with the Tahoe Mountain Club for 10+ years, and still going strong. For the majority of that time, we have provided the online platform that powers TMC's member communication and marketing efforts.

In 2012 our partnership with TMC expanded as the Club turned to Clubessential to help grow the public side of its business. TMC tapped into the expertise of our interactive design agency to develop a new public website for the Club, as well as for their golf operations, which encompasses two golf courses, as well as the Golf Academy at Old Greenwood.

We were excited to take on a more prominent role in helping our friends at TMC improve their web marketing and communication initiatives, and recently caught up with PGA Head Professional, Travis Alley, to find out how TMC has been positively impacted by the new Clubessential solutions.


Tell us about the Tahoe Mountain Club.

Here at Tahoe Mountain Club the rules are simple. HAVE FUN! It’s not a status symbol, a scene or even a place at all. Tahoe Mountain Club is a group of people – people like you who want to learn and play and share and relax; who are just as comfortable on a mountain bike as they are on a fairway; who can go from grey fleece to black tie in a matter of hours. People who want to be rooted in the true Tahoe lifestyle. Tahoe Mountain Club consists of two championship golf courses; (Old Greenwood and The Golf Club at Gray’s Crossing) our exclusive ski in-ski out mountain top restaurant Schaffer’s Camp; our après ski lounge Alpine Club; our state of the art gym and clubhouse, The Pavilion; and our award winning restaurant, PJ’s.


Why did you choose Clubessential to build the new web/mobile presence and communications platform for the Tahoe Mountain Club?

After we researched some ten to fifteen different web providers we arrived at Clubessential. Clubessential was our top choice because they were the one company that could handle all of our amenities and their individual needs while still wrapping them into the big picture that is our club. They deliver the highest quality product for both our public and private venues, and continue to provide us with exceptional service and support.


What goals did you have for the new website?

We have all seen clubs' web pages and said… “Huh? I thought this place was supposed to be nice…” Our major goal was to showcase our facilities with a quality looking site that does our club justice. We have a top level product and wanted that to be conveyed to all our members and guests.


How has the new communications platform (both desktop and mobile) helped you accomplish your goals?

The beauty of the behind the scenes tools provided by Clubessential is the ability to keep things organized and separated. For our club, we have both public accessible facilities and members only accessible facilities... with Clubessential we have the ability to separate our databases from one another. For instance, we can send an e-blast to our golfer database of over 15,000 people and turn around and send a member update to a different 5,000 people all with a few clicks of the mouse.


What are some of the benefits you've derived from the new system?

We always have people commenting on the quality of our site. It’s nice to hear someone say, “I visit your site all the time just to thumb through your photo gallery.” That’s something we never heard with our previous site.


Would you recommend Clubessential to other Clubs?

Absolutely. The service and support we have received with Clubessential has been wonderful. Whether you have a public or private facility, Clubessential is certainly a top candidate. We look forward to a great ski season and wish everyone the best of luck for 2013, thanks Clubessential!
