Clubessential was founded as netcaddy.com in 1998. A competitor, Clubessential, Inc. funded by KSL Recreation and KKR, was founded in 1999. In April 2001, when these two companies were the number one and number two providers of club websites they merged. Together their customer base exceeded 200 clubs.
In November of 2002, Dr. William D. Ivers, former CEO of netcaddy.com and board member of Clubessential, Inc., led a management team purchase of the assets of Clubessential, Inc. forming today’s company; Clubessential LLC. At the start of 2003 Clubessential’s user base stood at 350.
Over the next four years Clubessential consolidated all three of its website products into one product, and converted all of its clients to this single system. Then began a four-phase re-write of all of its systems so that today’s products are written using the latest development platforms and products. The new systems are so much easier to enhance that Clubessential’s development productivity has increase eight-fold without increasing its development staff. By the start of 2007, Clubessential had 750 clients, with 95% renewing their service each year. |
